Contemporary Boy's Bedroom

Updated: Jan 24, 2019

Erika wanted to create a room that would grow with her son Arthur. As with most London based properties, space was limited and storage was a key aspect to the design. Arthur has a fascination with vintage cars, so Erika wanted to incorporate this into the scheme. However, she didn't want anything wacky (like a cliche race car bed), she wanted to invest in pieces of furniture that would grow with her son and not date over time.

Currently being used as a guest bedroom, the existing space lacked any real storage or purpose. Erika was unsure where to start with the project. Small spaces can often be the most challenging, especially with the amount of storage required in a child's bedroom.

The room had recently been painted in 'Cornforth White' by Farrow & Ball. With this in mind, we chose to add colour through accessories, in keeping with Arthur's hobbies and interests. Accents of royal blue, red and orange liven up the space, whilst graphic artwork adds a slightly more grown up vibe to the room.

We sourced modern furniture with clean lines and plenty of hidden storage. The bed is something that will grow with Arthur right into his teens, as will the bespoke storage cabinet, currently housing Arthur's favourite digger. The vintage car prints are customised prints from Etsy. The hand embroidered toy box is from notonthehighstreet.com.
