Open Plan Family Living
Updated: Jan 22, 2019
Hannah's living room was dull, dark and in much need of a contemporary update. She wanted the room to be a calm and neutral space. The family requested that the room be divided into two separate, cosy areas, so that they could utilise the space at the same time, with their separate hobbies.
Hannah wanted to create clean lines and a contemporary colour palette that would make the space feel relaxed and zen. We eventually decided on a grey backdrop, with navy accents to add interest.
The room was zoned off into two separate spaces, through the addition of a corner sofa and the placement of the furniture. Hannah eventually had to make some compromises on the design, reusing some existing pieces from her previous living room, as the basic decoration of the room left her over budget, but the space is already a far cry from the from the dull interior it once was. The original brick on the chimney breast has been exposed, to give the room a more modern feel, and a contemporary wooden floor has been installed throughout.
AFTER - In Progress
The orangery will eventually become a reading area, with a bespoke, built in seating area and shelves above for books. This space has been completely transformed with the installation of attractive new radiators and contemporary blinds, which give the space a fresh, clean look. Hannah will install the bespoke seating/reading area in the New Year.
