The Westbury: An Executive Show Home With a Smart, Contemporary Feel

Updated: Jan 29, 2019

Show Business Interiors approached us to produce a scheme for the 'Westbury' show home. The brief was to create a modern space with a homely, executive feel. The layout of the property reflects open plan living downstairs and a family space upstairs.

SHOW HOME - 'The Westbury'

The Westbury is a four bedroom, detached property with an open plan kitchen/dining/living area and separate lounge downstairs, as well as four bedrooms, two en-suites and a family bathroom upstairs. We created schemes for the open plan kitchen/dining/living area and the two children's bedrooms upstairs.

FAMILY AREA - Eat/Dine/Relax

This particular show home model has Walnut & Raspberry finishes in the kitchen, so this needed to be taken into consideration in the design. We chose a neutral backdrop for the space, with colours from Farrow & Ball. The majority of the walls would be painted in 'Dimity', with accent walls behind the two sofas in 'Dead Salmon'. To add flow to the scheme, we continued the pops of Raspberry through into the living room with accessories. This was complemented with the addition of teal accents, to add interest and warmth to the space. Gold, glass and marble textures, added through furniture and lighting, give the room that executive feel, whilst styling, such as the family wall gallery and pink orchid, add those homely finishing touches.

GIRL'S NURSERY - French Princess

For the upstairs nursery, we created a contemporary scheme fit for a Princess. A feature wall, decorated with wallpaper from Manuel Canovas, adds a 'wow' factor the space, whilst French-style furniture adds a luxury feel. For the lighting, we sourced hanging, metallic balloon lights from notonthehighstreet.com.

BOY'S BEDROOM - The Little Explorer

The second upstairs bedroom was to be transformed into a boy's bedroom entitled 'The Little Explorer: A Bedroom For The Adventurous Boy'. For a contemporary twist on this theme, we established a graphic black and white scheme, with pops of green to hint at nature. We also added a canopy bed from The Children's Furniture Company, with a painted mountain mural behind. In the left hand corner of the space, we built an MDF climbing wall, to add a sense of adventure to the room. The imaginative, cartoon-like chest is from a British design company called Established & Sons. The adorable mushroom light is from Hurn&Hurn.
